Life After Carac!

This is what I look like now, two weeks after stopping Carac treatment. I was amazed at how quickly the Locoid cream healed the treated area. I still have a tiny bit of redness, but overall I am really pleased.

My Last Day of Carac

These are photos from my last day of treatment - Day 20. Most of the irritated areas had peeled at this point. My chin became so eroded by day 14, that my dermatologist suggested I stop treating it at that point. I had been using Neosporin with pain reliver on my chin for 5 days in this picture.

Day 19 of Carac

Well this is pretty much as bad as it got. (I look pretty darn grumpy too!)

By day 19, I was very sore and everything below my eyes was pretty raw and peeling. At this point I was ready to be done with it.

It was not very painful during the day - unless I peeled too much. At night it was itchy and irritated.

Day 8 of Carac Treatment

This is what I looked like on Day 8 of treatment. I can deal with posting this now because I am currently 14 days post - treatment and my skin looks and feels great. At Day 8, I was really just beginning to see the redness come out and by chin began to get really, really sore. I'll post some additional pics this weekend, including one of my "new face"! I can also wear make-up again!

Trainer Crisis - Carac Treatment

This blog is usually for networking and professional use. However, I was recently diagnosed with Actinic Keratoses - precancerous lesions on my face. I didn't know there was anything wrong. I actually went to see my dermatologist for a completely different reason. I mentioned casually that I thought I had two tiny spots of psoriasis on my cheek and he diagnosed me at that time.

I figured my blog is a great way to share the photos of what I experienced during my three week course of treatment with Carac cream. I realize that there are many people out there in the same situation and would like to know what they are "in for" during this agressive and sometimes difficult and painful treatment.

During this treatment, I have not been able to do any group facilitation at all after about day 5. My face is just kind of shocking and disconcerting to others - but after three weeks of treatment, beginning to heal nicely.

I will begin to post photos this evening. Check back for updates...
